Description

Garlic Confit is one of the great basic cooking ingredients you can have on hand. Why?

1. It adds a great garlic push to anything easily
2. It is super easy to make
3. It keeps in the fridge for up to a month

I’m almost never without it in my kitchen and it can even be spread on bread or bagels for flavoring by itself.

Ingredients

Canola Oil
A pot that isn’t too wide
Lots of garlic cloves
A mason jar or tupperware to store it

Directions

1
Peel a lot of garlic cloves (a cup or two of them at least)
2
Throw these garlic gloves in the pot
3
Cover the garlic cloves with Canola oil (you want .5 to 1 inch above the cloves for safety)
4
Put the pot on low or low medium heat (you don’t want to brown them, think very slow cooking)
5
Let them cook for about 40 minutes stirring them about every 5 minutes
6
After that when you poke it with a paring knife it should effortlessly slip through them
7
Use or store it in the fridge (though I can never resist throwing one or two on top of some bread to munch on)
